Time to Move to the New Relationship Model for any Business!

I say, ” American are lazy, They don’t want to have to go to a brick and mortar to shop. They want to sit on their couch and watch the Olympics while they order the newest flip-cam or groceries. But do Business understand that. I think too many have their Relationship models backwards.

Kelly Mooney says it best when she says, “the old model will not work anymore, if you want to be successful you need to start focusing on the customer instead of your brick and mortar.” While I listened to her speak at the Bazaar Voice Summit in Austin, Texas, I thought to myself, what business has not figured this out already.

Kelly Mooney’s book “THE OPEN BRAND” touches on the simple fact there is a triangle. In the past,  the top of the triangle had the brand  and at the other two corners were the consumer and the community. While all the right components are there, there is still a big thing missing. The order that it needs to be in.

If you are to flip the triangle upside down so there are two points across the top (consumer and community) and one point at the bottom (Brand) you will be so much more successful.

When you do this your community takes over and let’s face it, your community runs your business and if they don’t that is your first mistake. If your community doesn’t like it, well, you aren’t going to sell anything. If you do, your target market are people that have no idea what a computer or the Internet is. Actually lets generalize that and just say that they don’t know what the media is or what name brand clothing is either.

So just to sum things up real quickly. Your Community will control your consumer. Your consumer will control your brand. When your consumer is happy your community hears. When your community hears, They buy. When they buy, your happy!

Questions?? I didnt think so.

Facebook Advertising

So my posting today comes off a thought of a good friend of mine J. Owyang. (who is a genius just so that is clear)  He speaks today in his blog http://www.web-strategist.com/blog/ about Facebook advertising. Now Owyang hit more on whether or not it was worth it, to spend money to use this advertising method.

I think we should look at it from a viewership standpoint. We of the Facebook world. Do we take the time to look at these ads? Is the user experience better or worse? Do you feel they are useless and while being profitable to facebook, useless to the user?

I hope this conversation can continue to grow as we get people talking about this subject. Keep in mind. The user experience is what this is all about.

The time has come finally… We have had TV’s on planes and Movies for that matter but what people really want is Internet during their flights. Well, guess what. That time has come. http://www.gogoinflight.com/.

GoGo Is now flying on American Airlines with the option of Wi-Fi for an additional 12.95… or that is how they advertise it.

So, All you Social Media Mavens… Have no fear you can keep in touch on the plane now… Will that make you want to travel just a little more. Oh yeah. The best part… blackberries and IPhones… are allowed with the wi-fi service. Sure you have to turn off your Cell Service.. but good thinking for AA.

That is sick. Just sick

Thoughts?

What does this do for Social Coversations? Will this effect it? Will more things be said? Who knows.

Neat Video for their Company as well!

A Few Quick Thank You’s

There are two way that you really get into Social Networking. You were either introduced to it, or you just started doing it having no idea what you were about to get yourself into.

For me, It all started becuase of @Julia Roy.  I know I don’t need the @ but there is a reason for it. When I first started talking with Julia Roy, I had no idea what Twitter was. Now being one of the biggest resources that I use, I can’t believe that I might have missed out on such an opportunity. Julia Roy showed me the ropes. She was my Twitter Queen. She introduced me to probably most of you who are reading this blog now. So I thought I should take the time to Say THANKS JULIA… NO DOUBT YOU ARE MY DIGITAL ANGEL!

And Two More quick Shout outs… If it wasnt for Aaron Dignan (Mr. Sticky himself ) I would have never had the chance to meet all you great people on twitter, facebook, etc…  So Aaron Dignan… You have my highest praise.

And  Gianni … Who I work with for a very short time. But none-the-less we have begun talking in the recent weeks. He kept perusing me to start a blog, To talk about these good ideas that were in my head. And the only way I could do that.. was to simply JUST DO IT! and that is exactly what I am doing!

So people If you dont mind write some comments about these people… They deserve it.

I sit down everyday wondering if this is what I am supposed to do. Am I supposed to be digital?

My answer is yes. I was born digital. I was meant to help people digitally and continue to learn through a digital world. So through this blog I will express my thoughts of social networks, social outings, Community building and how business can continue to strive using these resources.

I hope you stick around to see what I have to offer. Lets start conversations that can continue to grow as time goes by. I hope that I am able to go back to old conversations and continue them in later months.

Comments and Suggestions??? I would love to hear them.
